All day, every day: These are the real energy suppliers

You get enough sleep but you still feel tired and exhausted? Nature is here to help you. There are indeed certain foods that are natural energy boosts.

Who doesn’t know the feeling when you’re tired, weak and exhausted after a long week of work and a lot of personal matters? Our everyday life with all of its facets just keeps on taking our energy but we have to get it back somewhere else eventually. The important question is, how can we feel powerful again instead of just recharging our batteries? As often, nutrition is the key. If you integrate some of the following foods, you’ll get an extra portion of power indeed. 

Nowadays, the avocado is the influencer of fruits. There is probably no modern breakfast place that doesn’t offer something with the green favorite. Good news for everyone, who is following the tasty trend: With the mixture of carbohydrates, healthy fats and proteins the avocado is truly an energy boost. Furthermore it contains omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids which are said to improve the flow of blood to the brain and lower cholesterol. And the contained lecithin is good for long working days because it allegedly increases concentration and activates brain cells. 

Powerful fruits

Blueberries shouldn’t be underestimated either. The contained antioxidants can be great energy suppliers too because they are supposed to increase the thinking ability. In addition, its good amount of manganese is important for our metabolism. And now the spotlight falls on citrus fruits. While the contained glucose and fructose deliver energy, they are known to be rich in vitamin C, which for example has an effect on the optimal functioning of the immune system. So thanks to oranges, grapefruits, etc. you’ll feel more awake and fresh.

And then there is broccoli – a traditional healthy veggie that’s the perfect addition to your daily meal plan. It can prevent deficiencies, contains many important vital substances – and it’s the perfect snack fo fight fatigue. Broccoli is a valuable supplier of iron, that’s essential for oxygen-rich blood which in turn provides the body cells with energy. The contained magnesium is said to prevent concentration problems and listlessness.

Natural energy boost

Do you like to enjoy a bowl of oat and fruits for your breakfast? Then you’re on the sunny side. Oats have a lot of minerals that drive the energy metabolism. They also contain zink which is important for our body’s immune function. Also the high content on protein, fibre, minerals, vitamins, and complex carbohydrates makes the cereal a natural and long-lasting energy boost. Maybe think about adding nuts to your breakfast bowl, because guess what, they are energy suppliers as well. They are full of B vitamins, antioxidants, minerals and choline, which are supposed to prevent nervousness and concentration issues. The large proportion of fats is good for long-lasting energy but is also the reason why you should eat just a moderate amount.

Good news for lovers of sweets: Chocolate can be great for your daily boost of energy too. But there’s a catch. You shouldn’t eat just any flavor, if you want to take advantage of the health benefits. Therefore, dark chocolate which has a high cocoa content is the healthy option if you eat it moderately. The cocoa bean contains antioxidants that can strengthen the immune system. Some scientists assume that they can help with memory problems and stimulate the new formation of nerve cells as well. Scientists from the London Kingston University found out that dark chocolate can supply especially athletes with more energy and drives their performance. 

As you’ve probably already guessed, it is fundamentally important to pay attention to a balanced diet to increase your daily energy level and feel more active, fit and powerful. Don’t forget to get enough sleep to prevent stress and fatigue. If you additionally want to mobilize your body and free your mind, get some fresh air and do your weekly exercise. You’ll definitely feel the energy.
